The BMW Vehicle Footprint is primarily used as a transparency tool by BMW Group fleet customers. It provides information on a variety of sustainability aspects related to the vehicle: CO2e emissions, climate impact, secondary raw material content and social responsibility.
On 24 May 2023, we met with key stakeholders from academia, the political sector, industry and NGOs in Berlin to discuss the BMW Vehicle Footprint, focusing on related KPIs and the methodology used to calculate them.
The valuable feedback this generated will be used in continuous further development of the Vehicle Footprint and will help the BMW Group improve its transparency efforts.
Participants in the discussion:
Prof. Helena Wisbert, Director, Center for Automotive Research
Prof. Matthias Finkbeiner, Chair of Sustainable Engineering, Technical University of Berlin
Christel Lieffring, head of Procurement, PwC
Dr. Thomas Becker, Vice-President, Sustainability, Mobility, BMW Group
