Think.Make.Start.

Overview.

THINK.MAKE.START. is a one week design sprint, hosted by BMW Group, designed to foster innovation through cross-divisional collaboration. This provides employees the chance to develop with a problem-focused approach new solutions (e.g., user experiences, potentials of new technologies, or current challenges).

Mission.

Our goal is to promote innovation and facilitate the creation of new digital features at BMW. For each sprint, a team consists of 5 employees with optimal skills. This initiative is, besides others, supported by UnternehmerTUM MakerSpace GmbH. The teams create Proof-of-Concepts and lay the foundation to validate their ideas. Promising projects are provided budget, teamwork and development support.

Das Team von Think.Make.Start

Team POPAI:

During the THINK.MAKE.START. week, from 18 - 22 March 2019, the THINK. Prize went to Team POPAI for the development of a camera-based weld spot recognition and error documentation system. In the area “Fit for Customer”, the system has the potential to effectively reduce the currently high time expenditure of 8,000 hours per year and will therefore optimally support the worker. Up until now, the welding spots have to be counted and checked manually and the documentation of errors is relatively complicated. This developed recognition of welding spots enables an automated counting and a 1-Click error documentation. The system is currently based on the Bolzen App and will in the future also offer an effective categorization and evaluation of the weld spots.
