Paying made easy – with In-Car Payment, new from BMW.

In-Car Payment by BMW makes paying practical and digital. Customers with one of the latest models can now make payments without even getting out of their cars. Thanks to the new feature, parking fees and fuel costs can all be settled straight from the vehicle. Managed by the in-car system from now on, digital transactions offer secure and simple payment handling for BMW drivers in Germany. The payment features will be rolled out to further countries step-by-step.

Modern systems create modern solutions.

Getting out of the car to look for a payment machine or cashier, and possibly even having to wait your turn? The new In-Car Payment system by BMW is a way to shortcut the whole process, allowing transactions to be carried out straight from the car.

The Fuel Payment and Parking Payment apps will feature as standard in all cars on BMW Operating Systems 8, 8.5 and 9 – and shortly BMW Operating System 7 as well.

All the driver needs to do is add their payment credit card details via the My BMW app or the relevant menu in the car. They can then settle their fuel or charging bills electronically from inside the vehicle at participating fuel stations operated by Aral, Esso, HEM, Q1, Sprint, Team and Allguth. The new function will be available to 500,000 customers in Germany alone.

In-Car Payment will also be available for BMW iX5 Hydrogen drivers, making it easier for those in the BMW Group’s hydrogen pilot fleet to tank up their vehicles. The majority of H2 MOBILITY Deutschland fuel stations will be equipped to accept digital payment, underscoring once again the pioneering status of Europe’s leading hydrogen fuel network. In combination with quick refuelling times of three to 5 minutes, this will make filling up with hydrogen even more convenient.

The central display of a BMW shows the parking payment is complete.

A feature that’s an all-round talent.

Fast electronic payment isn’t the only advantage of this new feature. The Fuel Payment app also makes it simple to locate nearby fuel stations that accept digital in-car payment. The same option is available from BMW Maps – whether along the active route or without direct navigation – by ticking the online payments checkbox under Settings.

In-Car Payment also allows drivers to pay for parking electronically, from inside the vehicle. Those with BMW Operating Systems 8, 8.5 and 9 automatically recognise when they are entering a parking zone offering online payment and present the option straightaway. They also end the booking automatically as soon as the car leaves the parking zone again. This feature is also available in the My BMW app, along with further information about active bookings, parking history and payment methods.

The feature is activated via a QR code and the My BMW app.

Easily said – and just as easily done.

In-Car Payment is just as convenient to set up as it is to use. After signing in via their BMW ConnectedDrive account or BMW ID, customers can perform the one-time activation of the payment services and add their payment method with the help of the QR code on the central display and their smartphone.

With the one-time activation complete, paying is just as simple. As soon as the car enters a fuel station that accepts digital payment, the Fuel Payment app shows the payment option. The driver then selects the fuel station and pump, and as soon as they receive a push notification via the My BMW app, they can start refuelling. When the transaction is confirmed and completed, they can take to the road again. They can also check their usage and payment history and other settings in the in-car or smartphone app.

The BMW Group is constantly upgrading and enhancing the software and app features in its vehicles to integrate ever more options and ever newer dimensions of driving experience. Find out more about innovative in-car features by the BMW Group here.
